The customer is a producer of stainless steel pipes for various applications. Therefore, it is important for him to know the quality of the materials to be processed that are delivered to him. Due to the relevance of the data, this work step was of high importance to the customer.
Initial situation:
The original work process included two steps. First, employees from quality assurance transferred goods information from a web interface of the supplier into their own ERP system during goods receipt. This involved mould material certificates containing relevant information about the materials. Later, this data is forwarded with the goods to the customer's buyers. For this purpose, the data was transferred from the customer's ERP system to the web interface of the buyers. These two steps were previously carried out manually for each delivery and each order, which was very time-consuming.
Solution:
Thanks to maesn's application, this work step could be improved on two levels. On the one hand, maesn connected the SAP-based web interfaces and the ERP system using the interfaces, and on the other hand, the business process was completely automated using rule-based data exchange.
Result:
By linking the different systems, better communication between them could be ensured. Thanks to the automation of the work step, an enormous time saving was made possible, so a total of 150 minutes of working time per employee per week could be saved. In addition, the error rate was significantly reduced thanks to the automatic transfer of information.
